Military Appreciation and Giving Back to Veterans on Veterans Day

The following organizations are making a special effort to recognize Veterans Day by donating a portion of their sales to veteran causes or featuring special programs that give back to veterans and their families during November 2024 and, in some cases, beyond.

Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant is again partnering with the Honor Flight Network, a national nonprofit that provides veterans with free trips to national memorials and monuments in Washington, D.C., dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifice. At all Abuelo’s locations, the restaurant chain will donate $1 to Honor Flight for each chile con queso and queso diablo appetizer sold in-store or online from November 6-11, 2024.

Through Veterans Day 2024, Good Ranchers is partnering with Paralyzed Veterans of America for the "Bring All Veterans to the Table" promotion. Good Ranchers will donate a portion of its proceeds from every meat subscription box directly to PVA to support its mission of serving veterans with spinal cord injuries and diseases such as MS and ALS. Good Ranchers will also be sponsoring PVA events, giving a veteran discount on its product, and launching exclusive co-branded meat boxes for Veterans Day that will contribute extra donations. In honor of Veterans Day 2024, through its Helping Heroes initiative, Petco Love is providing over $500,000 in grants to 50 organizations that transform shelter pets into companions for U.S. veterans. Research shows pets help alleviate PTSD symptoms. Petco Love is the nonprofit arm of Petco, established to improve animal welfare across the United States.

PetSmart is donating $25,000 to K9s For Warriors to help combat veteran suicide by providing trained service dogs to veterans free of charge. To show appreciation for veterans and their families, PetSmart’s Treats Rewards program will offer 10X points to loyalty program members when shopping in-store or online from November 9-11, 2024.

Through Veterans Day 2024, through its Dog Chow brand, Purina will donate $5 (up to $75,000) to the Association of Service Dog Providers for every view of the winning "Service Dog Salute" film on YouTube. The film will premiere to the public on October 24, 2024, after being selected from entries in the the 9th annual New York Dog Film Festival. For the past seven years, the Dog Chow Service Dog Salute program has worked to help ensure that every veteran in need can obtain one of these life-saving dogs. Purina Dog Chow YouTube channel

RealTruck will donate 5% of every sale made on RealTruck.com on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024, to Building Homes for Heroes. The nonprofit organization builds and gives mortgage-free homes to veterans, emergency first responders and their families.

Regal will donate $1 for each popcorn sold on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024, to the Gary Sinise Foundation. The chain operates 423 theaters in 41 states along with the District of Columbia and Guam. The Gary Sinise Foundation builds custom homes for severely wounded veterans, provides support for the families of the fallen, and more.

Participating Sport Clips Haircuts locations will donate $2 from every hair care service provided on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024, to support the VFW's "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" program. The company plans to raise funds in-store from October 6 through November 16. The company has awarded more than 3,000 scholarships totaling $13.8 million since 2013. Many Sport Clips locations will also offer free Veterans Day haircuts for veterans and active duty service members.

For Veterans Day 2024, Starbucks is donating $200,000, shared evenly, to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project. Both veterans service organizations address the needs of veteran families.

The Vitamin Shoppe and Team Red, White & Blue are teaming up for Veteran’s Day 2024 to host the 11th annual WOD for Warriors, taking place Nov. 9-17, 2024, in over 100 locations across the country. Veterans and their supporters will take part in a series of Workout of the Day functional fitness exercises, each symbolizing the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the end of World War I. Through November 15, 2024, Walmart will match customer donations 2:1, up to $1 million, to Operation Homefront. This veterans organization provides direct financial assistance to help ease the burdens and relieve the financial strain for military families in need. Walmart customers can donate when they check out at Walmart.com and in the app.
