You may not know it, but Wendy’s has deep military roots beyond its annual Veterans Day military discount.
Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Army at the beginning of the Korean War and attended the service’s Cook and Bakers School at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Thomas was eventually sent to West Germany, where he was responsible for feeding as many as 2,000 fellow U.S. service members a day, “honing his skills and building a command of day-to-day operations that would serve him well in his future restaurant career,” according to the company.
In honor of Veterans Day, Wendy’s yet again paying tribute not just to its founder but to all U.S. service members and veterans with a special military discount.
