"John Wick" (2015) was a perfect, self-contained action movie, a blend of James Bond, classic Hong Kong action, the Godfather's mob rules and advanced weapons-training instruction videos. The tale had just enough plot to connect the fight scenes. No 10-minute Tarantino rants or tortured Marvel "mythology" here.
"John Wick: Chapter 2" somehow managed to increase the body count and maintain the first movie's standards as Wick continued to insist he was a retired hitman as chaos thundered around him.
"John Wick: Chapter 3 -- Parabellum" opens in theaters May 17, and the new trailer offers hope that the adventures of the now-excommunicado killing machine will be every bit as compelling this time around.
No longer under the protection of the rules of the Continental Hotel and burdened by a $14 million bounty on his head, Wick has to come up with an exit strategy. He turns to reluctant former colleague Sofia (Halle Berry) and her Belgian Malinois dogs to assist in his survival plan.
Our colleagues at Task & Purpose and We Are the Mighty agree: John Wick is awesome. May can't come fast enough.
