Former "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart wrote and directed the new comedy movie "Irresistible," premiering June 26 as an on-demand home rental via FandangoNow, iTunes, Roku, Amazon Fire, Google Play and many cable systems.

Five Military.com readers can win a chance to stream the movie this weekend via FandangoNOW and courtesy of Focus Features. Register to win at this link. The entry deadline is 9 a.m. ET Friday, June 26, and winners will receive a code via email.

"Irresistible" tells the story of retired Marine Col. Jack Hastings (Chris Cooper), who becomes a national sensation after a viral video shows him protesting a local anti-immigrant law at a council meeting in his small hometown of Deerlaken, Wisconsin.

Disconsolate after blowing the 2016 presidential election, political operative Gary Zimmer (Steve Carell) sees the video and believes he's found the perfect candidate to help him get his mojo back. He flies to Wisconsin with the intention of convincing this Marine that he's really a Democrat and one that Zimmer can help elect as the town's mayor.

Hastings' campaign starts to get traction and attracts the attention of Zimmer's Republican nemesis Faith Brewster (Rose Byrne), still high off her role in Trump's 2016 victory. She decides to work for the town's incumbent Mayor Braun (Brent Sexton), and millions of dollars in national campaign money starts to pour into a small-town election.

Stewart fans know that his target is usually the inside-the-beltway chattering classes, and his sympathies are with everyday Americans who are too busy leading their lives to obsess over every detail of political maneuvering. Jack's daughter Diana (Mackenzie Davis, still looking jacked after her role in "Terminator: Dark Fate") represents those folks and remains skeptical throughout the campaign.

You may ask yourself: How can a Marine allow himself to be caught up in all this nonsense? No spoilers, but there's an answer, and you'll almost certainly be surprised.

"Irresistible" is yet another movie that was set for a theatrical release before the novel coronavirus pandemic shut down theaters. Studios and filmmakers are all experimenting with ways to bring a sense of urgency and excitement to new releases without the experience of sharing the movie with a theatrical crowd.

That's why Focus Features and Twitter are teaming up for an "Irresistible" watch party on Friday, June 26, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Stewart will be your host, and everyone can watch the movie together and follow the commentary on Twitter via @FocusFeatures and the hashtag #Irresistible.

FandangoNOW is available on virtually any viewing platform you choose. Almost all smart TVs come with the app preloaded or available in their app stores. You can use Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox or Chromecast. If you prefer mobile viewing, there are apps available for iOS and Android. Or you can watch in a browser on your computer.

Register to win your free rental of "Irresistible" at this link and get your entries in before Friday morning at 9 a.m. ET for a chance to win.
