Marine Sniper Shoots Taliban with M110

    US Marines on the first day of Operation Moshtarak. Operation Moshtarak was an offensive in the area that is described as the "poppy-growing belt" of Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan. The combat operations started on February 13, 2010 These marines were dropped off in the center of a town called Marjah, at the time it was one of the most volatile towns in all of Afghanistan. Within minutes, Taliban militants began getting dropped off on motorcycles all around them. They were surrounded but under the rules of engagement, were unable to fire until fired upon. After some intense firefights, these marines set up to ambush the retreating Taliban. A Marine Sniper then engages the Taliban with an M110 SASS(Semi-Automatic Sniper System)
