Russian special forces worked with local police to perform a door-to-door search for shooting suspect Sergei Pomazun in Belgorod on Monday night. Special forces, known as Spetsnaz, scoured Belgorod with weapons drawn. Around 1,200 police officers and dozens of police dogs aided Spetsnaz in the manhunt. Authorities believe Pomazun pulled up outside arms shop "Ohota" (Hunt) in a dark BMW X5 around 14:00 local time (10:00 GMT). Accounts of bystanders differ, but Pomazun allegedly killed three salesmen in the arms shop and three passers- by in the street before fleeing the scene. Five people died instantly including a 14-year-old girl. Another victim, a 16-year-old girl, died later in hospital. The killer is believed to have used a Kalashnikov based semi-automatic 7.62 calibre Saiga carbine, popular with hunters. Police found a car, which they believe the suspect abandoned shortly after escaping, but no weapons were found inside the vehicle. The city of Belgorod plans to hold two days of mourning for the victims starting Tuesday.
