'Army Wives' Actress's Rambling Speech -- Kim Delaney made a rambling speech Thursday night at a ceremony honoring former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in Philadelphia. The “Army Wives” actress was eventually escorted off the stage. The actress appeared slightly disheveled as she attempted to read prepared remarks off a teleprompter, video from an ABC affiliate shows. Delaney said, “I've seen soldiers come home with painful life-altering injuries borne of their time and service,” and “I’ve attended numerous military funerals, including that of my best friend's son.” She then told the audience, who appeared a little confused, that she was just pretending as her military wife character, Claudia Joy Holden. “It’s all make believe. I do that as a job. It’s make believe,” she said . “I have the luxury to do all of this on a television show.” Shortly after, a woman with a headset escorted her off the stage.
