A Germany-based Air Force lung team experienced in evacuating patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and an ECMO team from San Antonio Military Medical Center teamed up for the longest ever aeromedical evacuation of an ECMO patient Wednesday, flying nonstop from Ramstein Air Base to San Antonio to evacuate the critically ill wife of an Army soldier based in Germany.
