Sailor and K-9 Receive Warm Homecoming

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - It was a heart warming homecoming this weekend at the Corpus Christi International Airport. Derek Smith, an active member of the Navy arrived home to the arms of his family after ten long months on a mission in Africa. His K-9 partner, a German Shepard by the name of Fergina was right by his side. The two were both deployed as a security team. Their job was to sweep for IEDs. Smith says his time in Africa was an experience he will never forget. This was his dogs second deployment to Africa and her last.
