Russia's New MRAP Put Through Paces
The Ural Typhoon is Russia's multi-functional, modular armored MRAP vehicle family. Chassis consists of the car bonnet, frame, all-wheel drive, three-axle. The Typhoon is part of Russia's large vehicle Typhoon MRAP program. The Ural-4320 is a general purpose off-road 6x6 truck, produced at the Ural Automotive Plant in Miass, Russia for use in the Russian army. Introduced in 1976, it is still in production today. The wheel arrangement for the Ural-4320 was designed for transporting cargo, people and trailers on all types of roads and terrain. It also serves as a launching platform for the BM-21 "Grad" rocket launcher. The GAZ-33097 is a transport truck with a 2,000 kg payload, built by the Russian GAZ factory. The GAZ-33097 is designed to provide cargo transportation in harsh terrain and adverse weather conditions. It is equipped with power steering, driving axles with cam-type self-blocking differential, and radial tires with a pressure regulation system. It is a development of the GAZ-66-40 truck.
