Veterans Day is nearly upon us, and that means, for many Americans, it’s time to shop (and eat) until you drop. Raking in the savings and freebies on everything from retail to restaurants has become a much-anticipated Veterans Day tradition for many veterans and service members, and this year is no different.

At Military.com, we carefully curate and fact-check hundreds of Veterans Day discounts to ensure that they are up-to-date and accurate. But with so many available, it’s impossible to use every Veterans Day offer. That’s why we asked our readers to share their favorite Veterans Day discount – and they came through. From store promotions to free food, you spilled your savings secrets with us.

Here are the best Veterans Day deals and discounts, according to veterans:

Texas Roadhouse

Our readers love celebrating Veterans Day with Texas Roadhouse! From their famous basket of bread and honey butter to hand-cut steaks, this eatery was our respondents’ top pick. It’s no wonder: Texas Roadhouse has a phenomenal Veterans Day deal. All current, active, and veteran members of the military are invited to enjoy a free entree, two sides, and soft drink, sweet tea, iced tea, or coffee during lunch on Veterans Day.

If you’re not close to a Texas Roadhouse, these other similar restaurants also offer Veterans Day deals:

  • Outback Steakhouse: Enjoy a free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage with the purchase of an entree. (Can’t make it to Outback on Veterans Day? They have a 10% military discount every day.)
  • Logan’s Roadhouse: Ask for the Veterans Day menu and choose a free entree during lunchtime on November 11. Logan’s Roadhouse often offers free meals to active duty military and veterans on Memorial Day and July 4, too.
  • Sizzler: Choose a free shrimp, chicken, or steak lunch entree on Veterans Day.

Applebee’s

If you’re ready to eat good in the neighborhood, Applebee’s has quite the Veterans Day deal for you. On November 11, choose a free lunch or dinner from a select menu of seven of their most popular entrees. You’ll also receive a $5 “bounce back” card, which is valid at all participating locations for three weeks after the holiday.

No Applebee’s nearby? Try one of these similar restaurants for a fantastic Veterans Day deal:

  • Ruby Tuesday: Enjoy a complimentary Garden Bar, smashburger, or cheeseburger entree anytime during business hours on November 11.
  • Chili’s: Choose a free entree from a select menu on Veterans Day.
  • Golden Corral: Beginning at 5 PM on Veterans Day, participating locations host a Military Appreciation Night, which includes a free entree.

Home Depot

Every day is Veterans Day at Home Depot. While Home Depot technically does not offer an exclusive Veterans Day discount, they do have a year-round 10% military discount. Our readers love this deal—perhaps because it is also available to military spouses and veteran spouses. If you have access to an Army & Airforce Exchange or Navy Exchange, you can also take advantage of special pricing on Home Depot goods year round.

Not near a Home Depot? You might have a Lowe’s close by. Similar to Home Depot, Lowe’s does not offer a Veterans Day deal but does have a 10% military discount on select items all year.

Starbucks

We know, we know: Starbucks hates the military, according to that 1993 chain email that still sporadically resurfaces on social media. We’ve all seen it. Of course, Starbucks does not hate the military, as evidenced by their hiring initiatives, partnerships, and, of course, its Veterans Day promotion. Our readers love the coffee giant’s offer of a free tall hot or iced coffee to current and veteran service members and their spouses.

Try these coffee chains if Starbucks isn’t an option for you this Veterans Day:

  • Dunkin’: If you run on Dunkin’, be sure to grab your free doughnut on Veterans Day.
  • Einstein Bros. Bagels: Order a free hot or iced coffee of any size with your purchase on November 11.
  • Tim Hortons: Show your military ID on November 11 and receive a free doughnut.

Free Car Wash

Our readers love free car wash offers on Veterans Day. (After all, it’s always a bonus to have someone else check off a to-do item on your list!) It’s a good thing there are so many regional chains with complimentary car washing services on November 11:

  • Grace For Vets: Start here for a detailed list of offers. This organization is a coalition of car wash companies from around the world that gift free car washes to military-connected people.
  • Autobell: This southeastern chain is offering a free Ride-Thru Exterior car wash for veterans on Veterans Day. Want to upgrade? You can receive an equivalent credit towards another car wash service.
  • Russell Speeder’s Car Wash: Get a free car wash over Veterans Day weekend at any location.

This is just a sample of the Veterans Day discounts that are available to you this year. That’s why we keep an up-to-date catalog of freebies and discounts—so you can easily search the offers and choose those that resonate with you.

Do you have a favorite Veterans Day deal our survey respondents missed? Share it with us and we just might add it to this article so that other veterans and service members can benefit from the promotion, too.

Your personal information will not be shared, and your responses will only be used for editorial purposes.
