From the ghosts of Gettysburg to the specters of West Point to the disembodied of Vietnam, the U.S. military has always proven fertile ground for paranormal tales. War, bloodshed and strife create circumstances that are emotional, difficult and sometimes absurd -- a perfect catalyst for stories that try to make sense of the unexplainable.

Now that spooky season is upon us, we want to hear your most hair-raising, things-that-go-bump-in-the-night stories from your time in the military. Maybe it's lore passed down from service member to service member over the decades, a late-night encounter on base with something otherworldly that you just can't shake, or a tall tale from your battle buddy who swears it happened to them.

Dig deep into the ghoulishly good, fantastically frightening and terrifyingly terrific stories that you've collected during your time serving our country. Then tell us: What's the best military ghost story you know?

Share your creepy yarn using the form below, and we might publish it in a follow-up article sharing insights from the Military.com community.
