Deployments and military separations can be fraught with emotions, especially if you're experiencing one as a military spouse for the first time. As a result, it's easy to take umbrage to the most simple statements when you feel raw.
But there are also some truly clueless (and sometimes downright awful) things that people say during a deployment. Those statements often are under the guise of advice or well-meaning concern. At best, they're easy to brush off and laugh about later; at worst, they find their target and hurt.
