When news broke that Max Thieriot was going to continue to star as Clay Spenser on the Paramount+ series "SEAL Team '' while simultaneously taking the lead role in a new CBS drama "Fire Country," fans wondered how the actor could possibly do both jobs at the same time.
Their questions were answered halfway through the season when Clay's time with Bravo team came to a tragic end and Thieriot was left to work on "Fire Country" full time. CBS gave the actor some good news when it announced that "Fire Country" has been renewed for a second go-round in the 2023-2024 season.

"Fire Country" was created by Thieriot and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who seems likely to get his first Oscar nomination as producer of "Top Gun: Maverick." The series follows Bode Donovan (Thieriot), a California inmate who volunteers for a prison firefighting program. Things get weird when his team is sent to his hometown, a place he left under complicated circumstances with no plans to ever return.

The show also stars Billy Burke ("The Twilight Saga") as Bode's dad and Diane Farr ("Numb3rs") as his mom. Their rocky relationship gives the show a bit of "Yellowstone" family drama mixed into the classic CBS procedural formula.
Audiences have responded to Thieriot's show. It's been a consistent performer in the television ratings and even beat "Blue Bloods" for total audience when the shows returned after the holiday break on Jan. 6, 2023.
"Fire Country" isn't a military show, but it is the landing spot for the actor who played one of the most beloved characters on "SEAL Team," one of the most popular military shows of all time. It's nice to know that Thieriot's exit from "SEAL Team" wasn't for a show that crashed and burned on impact. Clay Spenser may not be coming back, but it's looking like fans can catch Thieriot on Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT for years to come.
