Jeremy Strong is having a career peak. He just won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for "Succession," and season three of HBO’s dysfunctional corporate family drama is getting great reviews and a ton of attention.
Strong is using that career momentum and the power it created for him to make a limited series about 9/11 first responders. "The Best of Us" is a project that he's been developing in partnership with writer and director Tobias Lindholm.
The story will focus on the men and women who went to the site to help sort through the debris. That includes traditional first responders but also the students, teachers and other New Yorkers who volunteered to work on "The Pile" in the days and weeks after the attacks.
Lindholm may be best known to the military audience as the writer and director of "A War," the Danish drama that starred future "Games of Thrones" actor Pilou Asbæk and an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Film. He co-wrote the Oscar-winning "Another Round" with writer and director Thomas Vinterberg. Lindholm also directed a pair of episodes in season one of David Fincher's Netflix series, "Mindhunter."

Lindholm will write and direct the series. Journalist Chris Smith, who has covered September 11 for New York Magazine and Vanity Fair, will act as a consulting producer as the series looks to base its stories on well-researched accounts of actual events.
In what might be seen as an interesting twist, Strong and Lindholm's project will be produced by Sister, a company co-founded by Elisabeth Murdoch. She's the daughter of Rupert Murdoch and the sister of James and Lachlan. Show creators have said that the dysfunctional media titans in "Succession" were inspired by the Murdoch family.
There's no network announcement yet, but Strong will be looking to complete the show between seasons of "Succession," so look for more details soon.
