Chris Pratt Set to Take on a SEAL Conspiracy in 'The Terminal List'

Chris Pratt, who just finished filming yet another performance as Star-Lord in the upcoming Marvel movie "Thor: Love and Thunder," has decided to return to television as a more down-to-earth hero in the Amazon series "The Terminal List."

Based on the novel by former Navy SEAL Jack Carr, the show will feature Pratt as James Reece, a SEAL whose team is ambushed during a covert mission. Reece survives and returns home to his family, but was he responsible for the disaster in the field?

Of course not. There are shadowy figures behind the scenes and conspiracies to be uncovered. Reece and those he loves will find themselves in mortal danger before the truth is eventually revealed.

Taylor Kitsch (who played SEAL Michael Murphy in 2013's "Lone Survivor") has joined "The Terminal List" cast as a CIA operative. If you're a fan of the genre, you might predict that the CIA guy will meet Reece with some information and our hero won't know whether the spy is friend or foe. That's just a guess, but call it an informed one even if we haven't read the novel that inspired the show.

If you've been watching "Parks and Recreation" during quarantine, it's hard to believe that the goofy guy who played the show's officer slacker Andy has become an A-list action star with the "Guardians of the Galaxy" Marvel movies and the "Jurassic World" sequels.

Of course, Pratt's already played a SEAL in 2012's "Zero Dark Thirty," portraying one of the men on the mission to kill Osama bin Laden.

Director Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day," "Olympus Has Fallen") is an executive producer on the show, which plans to bring military voices into its writers' room, hiring veterans and writers who have military members in their families whenever possible.

Jack Carr fans know that there are already four novels in the James Reece series, so there should be material for several additional seasons if Amazon decides the show is a hit. It has already had great success with shows based on Michael Connelly's novels about LAPD detective Harry Bosch and Tom Clancy's CIA operative Jack Ryan, and Amazon's got a new series upcoming based on Lee Child's Jack Reacher books.

This streamer should be the ideal home for a show like this, so here's hoping "The Terminal List" lives up to its promise.
