Activision has managed to stay on track for 2020 and plans to release "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" on Nov. 13. That's a week later than usual, but the delay likely has more to do with the presidential election than any coronavirus-related drama.

Note to career-seekers: The word in the entertainment industry is that the animation, special effects and video game businesses have made a nearly seamless transition to a work-from-home economy. Production hasn't slowed down, and jobs may stay remote forever.

What new military adventures has "Call of Duty" concocted for players? We're back in a historical setting, conducting secret missions on behalf of President Ronald Reagan at the apex of the Cold War.

Check out the story trailer below:

Players will battle in iconic Cold War locations such as East Berlin, Vietnam and Soviet-era Moscow. There's a mysterious villain called Perseus, who's looking to take advantage of the conflict to destabilize the global balance of power.

Once you finish the campaign, you'll bring a wide variety of Cold War weapons and equipment into multiplayer action and an all-new Zombies experience.

With the introduction of new consoles this fall, "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" promises to provide a seamless experience across multiple generations of platforms.

That Nov. 13 release date covers currently available devices such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Battle.net. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions should be available before the holiday season, hopefully simultaneously with the release of the new consoles.

Activision is once again offering an Open Beta launch for players who preorder the game, arriving Oct. 8 for PS4 players and Oct. 15 for Xbox and PC players.

Treyarch and Raven Studios joined forces to create the new game. "It's an honor to develop an all-new story for 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' players," said Dan Vondrak Sr., creative director of Raven Software. "'Black Ops Cold War' picks up right after the original, dropping players into a conspiracy-filled thrill ride set in the 1980s. Fighting alongside fan favorite-characters like Woods, Mason and Hudson, players will battle to uncover the truth. Everything isn't what it seems, as players' choices help shape the outcome of the narrative. We cannot wait for fans to experience it themselves."
