Ne-Yo Kicks Off a Packed Month of USO Virtual Events

The USO has done as good a job as any organization at adapting to the chaos of 2020. When in-person events got cancelled, they moved their mission online and have continued their outreach via the internet. They've got a series of excellent online shows this month and we got all the viewing details.

R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo will headline the final concert in the USO's Military Virtual Programing (MVP) Summer Music Series on Saturday, Sept. 5, streamed live at noon E.T. He'll be joined on the show by Americana group The War and Treaty and celebrity BBQ pitmaster Myron Mixon.

Ne-Yo exploded onto the scene in the early 2000s with a string of hits that included “Miss Independent” and “Because of You.” He’s won three Grammy awards and currently appears as a judge on the NBC competition show “World of Dance.” His latest single is “U 2 Luv” featuring Jeremih.

The War and Treaty is a duo featuring Iraq War veteran Michael Trotter and his wife Tanya Blount Trotter, who enjoyed successful recording and acting careers before she met her husband and they formed the group. Michael writes the group's material and they've found acclaim in the American genre with their 2018 album "Healing Tide." Their new album “Hearts Town” will be released on September 25th.

Myron Mixon is a legend in the competitive barbecue world, winning more than 180 BBQ grand championships over the last 25 years. He's a judge on the competition television show "BBQ Pitmasters" and currently the mayor of Unadilla, Georgia.

The USO wants to give everyone plenty of opportunity to participate, so they've scheduled more time with the musicians and chef than just the Saturday concert.

Myron Mixon will prepare a Labor Day menu on Friday, Sept. 4 at noon E.T. on the USO's Instagram (@theUSO).

The War and Treaty will offer an extended cut of their performance on Sunday, Sept. 6 at noon E.T. on the USO's Facebook page (@theUSO).

Ne-You will offer an encore performance on Monday, Sept. 7 at noon E.T. on the USO's IGTV (@theUSO).

If your taste runs more towards country music, Kellie Pickler and her songwriting/producer husband Kyle Jacobs will offer a mini performance and Q&A on Thursday, September 10 at 8 P.M. ET. Register on bit.ly/USOKellieandKyle.

Seth Green, the actor ("Austin Powers" movies and Chris Griffin's voice on "Family Guy") and producer ("Robot Chicken") will participate in a webinar Q&A on Sept, 18 at 9 P.M. ET. You can join at this link.

Tamron Hall, journalist and current host of the daily Tamron Hall Show, will present The Motherhood Juggle: A Live Stream Discussion with Motherhood Maternity and Tamron Hall on Monday, Sep 21, 2020 at 2 P.M. ET. This four-part series aims to connect new and expecting military moms around the world with parenting experts. This September event will feature maternal-health experts discussing the "Fourth Trimester" and the transition from pregnancy to motherhood. You can register for the Zoom event at this link.
