Iran Unveils Largest Drone to Date
Iran's newest addition to the UAV family was unveiled on November 18, 2013. The UAV, titled Fotros is designed and assembled by Iran's Ministry of Defence and is the largest capable unmanned aircraft developed by the country to date. Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan will be present in the unveiling ceremony of the new drone. In September 2012, Iran announced that it has started using UAVs for its air defense units as part of its broader plans for strengthening the country's air defense capability. The drone can be used as a target for air defense systems. In addition, it can carry out reconnaissance missions.
