A week after an attack by al-Shabaab on a Kenyan airfield, the DoD has conducted an airstrike on militants in Somalia.

Between 50 and 100 U.S. troops with the East Africa Response Force (EARF) were deployed to Manda Bay.

Two other U.S. military members were wounded.

A U.S. service member was injured in a pair of targeted attacks by a terror group in Somalia this week.

U.S. Africa Command says that there have been no civilian casualties as a result of U.S. air strikes targeting al-Shabaab.

Joint-coalition forces were operating against al-Shabab militants about 217 miles southwest of Mogadishu.
