The Commissaries website has been revamped, and finding information about the Guard and Reserve sales has become much harder.
Each month, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) holds special sales at locations that don't have a bricks-and-mortar commissary store. They bring in truckloads of commissary products and set up a temporary store. DeCA calls these Guard and Reserve sales, I think because they are typically held on Guard and Reserve properties. I call them "remote location" sales because I want it to be clear that they are open to all eligible commissary patrons, including National Guard, reserves, retirees, active duty, and their families.
Each sale is sponsored and coordinated by a physical commissary store. Before the website redesign, there was a link to the sponsoring store in the remote location sales listing, but it has disappeared in the redo. This is a problem because you need to contact the sponsoring store to find about hours of operation, specific locations, and to ensure that sales aren't cancelled or postponed. For example, there's a sale scheduled in Marietta, Georgia, next Saturday. With a serious storm headed that way, it is entirely reasonable that sale may be cancelled or postponed.
While I encourage you to verify all sale information, I'm not sure how to tell you to do that. I tried to call a couple of stores in Georgia to find out more information about the Marietta sale, but I got no where.
I have sent an email to the DeCA folks asking for help; I will update when they get back to me.

If you have the opportunity to visit one, definitely check it out, but I wouldn't recommend traveling any distance if you can't verify the information before you go.
