In researching the advance DLA situation, I stumbled across a couple of useful and interesting documents to help you fill out a complete and accurate travel claim when you have a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move. These were all found at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) website.
Army PCS Travel Voucher Guide
The first thing I found is called the Army PCS Travel Voucher Guide. While it was written by the Army, it contains useful information for PCSing service members for every branch of the military.
The Army PCS travel Voucher Guide includes line-by-line instructions for how to fill out the DD-1351-2 Form, including information for a different variety of situation, such as when the service member moves at a different time from the family.
Warning: clicking on this link will download the document in a PDF. Depending on your system, this may happen without any further authorization. Only click on this link if you want to download the Army PCS Travel Voucher Guide.
DD Form 1351-2 Travel Voucher Checklist
The second document I found is called the DD Form 1351-2 Travel Voucher Checklist. It is a single page that lists the 20 steps required to fill out a travel voucher. Might be handy to add to your PCS binder.
There are separate checklists for PCS moves made by an active service member and those who are separating or retiring from the military. Again, clicking on these link will download the document in a PDF.

Frequent Errors List
Lastly, I found a page that lists the most common mistakes made when filling out the DD-1351-2 travel claim form. I'm going to put a copy with the other documents to ensure that our travel claim gets filled out properly the first time, and we can get reimbursed as quickly as possible.
PCSing is stressful, and sometimes a lot of money is coming out of your pocket in a short amount of time. Filling out your travel claim quickly and accurately can help to easy the financial pressure of a PCS move.
