The next regular, active duty military payday is Friday, 27 February 2015, because 1 March 2015 falls on a Sunday. When should you expect to see your pay deposited into your account? That depends on your bank or credit union, and sometimes it even depends on your account type.
NOTE: If you are one of the 73,000 people who were affected by the Roth TSP accounting glitch that occurred on the mid-month paychecks, your pay will be short by the amount that you were overpaid mid-month. Your Leave and Earnings Statement should make it all clear.
Early Direct Deposit
While most military service members have their pay deposited into their accounts on the actual payday, some financial institutions offer their customers the benefit of depositing their military pay one business day prior to the actual payday. Both USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) do this. The business day prior to this payday is Thursday, 26 February 2015, so that is when USAA, PMCU, and other "one day early" customers will have their pay deposited.
Navy Federal Credit Union
When you will see your pay in your Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) account depends on what type of account you use for your pay deposits. NFCU offers a variety of different account types: Everyday Checking, Flagship Checking, Active Duty Checking, Campus Checking, and e-Checking. You picked your account type when you opened your account, or you may have chosen to change account types along the way. Just because you are on active duty does not mean that you have an Active Duty Checking account, but it's a great choice. If you want to change, it is simple to do by a telephone call or visit to a branch.
Navy Federal deposits on two different days, depending on what type of checking account you use. Active Duty Checking customers receive early direct deposit, all other checking account types have their pay deposited on the regular pay day. Members using an Active Duty Checking account may see their pay listed as pending on Wednesday, 25 February 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Thursday, 26 February 2015. Members using any other type of checking account may see their pay listed as pending on Thursday, 26 February 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Friday, 27 February 2015.
Service Credit Union
Service Credit Union offers direct deposit two business days prior to the regular military payday. For the next payday, Service Credit Union members should expect to have their active duty military pay available on Wednesday, 25 February 2015. Note that this is not guaranteed!
Everyone Else
If your bank or credit union does not offer early direct deposit as a benefit to its customers, then you will have your pay deposited on the actual payday, Friday, 27 February 2015.
Pay deposits can come at any time of day. Just because you were paid at a certain time in the past is no guarantee that you will be paid at the same time in the future. Approximately 99% of the "I didn't get paid" questions that I received are resolved by waiting a few hours.
