I try, I really do, to wait until seven days before payday to write about it. And nearly every time, my mailbox blows up ten days out. Ten days. That's practically just after the last payday.
And I so I write.
The next regular, active duty military payday is Tuesday, 15 January 2013. Most military members will see their pay arrive at some time on that day. Some folks will have their pay deposited a little early, as that is a benefit offered by some military-oriented banks and credit unions.
Most early deposit offers will deposit money one business day early. With a Tuesday payday, the way that works depends on your bank or credit union's policies and practices. Pacific Marine Credit Union has posted their 2013 pay calendar, and it shows that they will be paying on Monday, 14 January 2013. USAA doesn't have their 2013 calendar up yet, but I did some research on the last Tuesday payday and it appears that they, too, will be paying on Monday, 14 January 2013.
If you bank with Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU), your payday depends on the type of account into which you have your pay deposited. They also do things a little different than most other banking institution. NFCU members who use Active Duty checking for their pay will see their pay pending on Friday, 11 January 2013, to be posted overnight and available for use on Saturday, 12 January 2013. NFCU members who use any other type of checking account will see their pay pending on Monday, 14 January 2013, to be deposited overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 15 January 2013. Please don't forget that pending does not mean posted. You might be OK if you make a debit purchase on the day your pay is pending, because NFCU usually posts credits before debits, but that isn't a chance that I would want to take.
Service Credit Union offers early deposit "up to two days early," and it is not guaranteed. If you are with Service Credit Union, I can't guess when you will be paid. What I can tell you is that it will be no later than Tuesday, 15 January 2013.
What time will you get paid? It can be any time, so don’t worry. See What Time Will I Get Paid? for more information.
