Military.com and USAA commissioned Sperling's BestPlaces to create a list of best places for military retirees to launch a second career, based on the best places in the nation for jobs that match military skills.
The rankings are a good resource to help military retirees overcome common transition challenges, such as effectively translating job skills and managing a new financial landscape. In addition to the overall Top 10 places, the report includes top 10 rankings by city size. The factors for ranking the cities also include: home prices, unemployment rates, taxes, and proximity to military installations.
I won’t give away any surprises by posting the list here, but you won’t find Portland Oregon on any of the lists.
