The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) helps homeless veterans find housing. Through the VASH program, homeless veterans are provided a special class of Section 8 vouchers that they use at approved agencies to obtain housing. The Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, provides supportive services to very low-income veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent housing. Eligible veteran families are provided case management and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits, which includes time-limited payments to third parties (such as landlords, utility companies, moving companies, and licensed child care providers) if these payments help veteran families stay in or acquire permanent housing on a sustainable basis. For more information, visit the VA Homeless Veterans webpage, the HUD-VASH Vouchers webpage, and the VA Homeless Veterans SSVF webpage.
