Troy University has launched a new scholarship program that effectively makes tuition free for currently serving military members and drastically discounts tuition for their spouses and dependents. The new Troy Military and Family Scholarship will pay all tuition costs above $250 for any military student or their spouse or dependents taking undergraduate or graduate courses. Because the Military Tuition Assistance program pays the initial $250, the new scholarship effectively ensures that active duty military, National Guard and reservists will have no out-of-pocket costs for tuition. University officials say that spouses and dependents will realize a 25 percent discount on undergraduate programs and a 50 percent discount for graduate programs as a result of the program. Students will still pay for books and other costs. Starting on Jan. 1, currently serving military students will automatically receive the scholarship. Spouses and dependents can apply via an online application on the Troy University website.
