Older adults can have multiple health problems and may not know whether they need to see a doctor or can administer self-care, so TRICARE officials want people to consider calling the nurse advice line first before deciding. Older adults can speak with a registered nurse who will help assess if self-care is appropriate or if you need to see a medical professional. The nurse advice line provides access to care, especially after hours and when traveling. It can also help find doctors and schedule next-day appointments at military hospitals and clinics when available. To access the nurse advice line call 800-TRICARE (874-2273) and select Option 1. For more information, visit the TRICARE Nurse Advice Line webpage.
