Speech and language disorders can occur at any age. Early speech and language intervention can help children be more successful with reading, writing, schoolwork, and interpersonal relationships. Children typically receive their first hearing screening before one month to provide a good baseline for speech and language development. Adults may experience speech and language difficulties for a variety of reasons.
