It is important to remember the fundamentals of Operational Security (OPSEC). OPSEC is to protect sensitive, unclassified information. Social media is perhaps the biggest threat to OPSEC today. Many people never change their security settings, and as a result very important basic information like emails are available to anyone that clicks on your profile. Here are several safety tips: (1) learn what paper needs to be shredded, encrypt emails, and adjust settings on social media sites; (2) be cautious when befriending someone new; (3) notice your surroundings when sharing information; (4) change passwords; (5) never post details about everyday life; and (6) always remember everything posted will exist on the Internet forever.
