The U.S. Navy has announced the automatic rating change for active component Sailors holding Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) G29A from Naval Aircrewman Avionics (AWV) rating into the Naval Aircrewman Operator (AWO) rating. The realignment is part of the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Force (MPRF) transition from legacy P-3C and EP-3 aircraft into the more advanced P-8A and MQ-4C aircraft. No action is required by Sailors, as the rating change will be automatic. Effective dates for Sailors' automatic realignment are July 1, 2018 for E-3 through E-5, Sept. 1, 2018 for E-6, and Oct. 15, 2018 for E-7 through E-9.
