A 3' x 5' image of the Georgia State Memorial to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans will be unveiled at Liberty Plaza at the Georgia State Capitol May 20 at 11 a.m. By Gov. Nathan Deal. The official monument will installed in front of the Floyd Veterans Memorial Building May 13, but will remain covered until Gov. Deal unveils an image of the memorial, which is a bronze plaque listing the veterans from Georgia who were killed in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. A life-size Fallen Soldier Memorial, donated by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America - Georgia Council, will be installed May 14 next to the Georgia State Memorial to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are requested to take MARTA and exit the Georgia State Capitol Station.
