Army installations across Europe will adopt a new emergency messaging system this summer, according to a service news release. The Alert! Mass Warning Notification System, or MWNS, is set to replace the current system, AtHoc. The new system can alert base residents and others on assignment for the Army in Europe, including troops, family members and service civilians, of events including an active shooter, dangerous weather or any other emergency. According to the release, the migration to the new system will reduce costs and redundant spending. The migration will happen July 22-Aug. 2. Users will be migrated automatically but will notice differences in the way messages look and sound. Read more at Army.mil.
