The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), which is headquartered in Monterey, Calif., recently opened a new language training facility in Vilseck, Germany. The Combined Arms Language Training Center (CALTC) will provide military and civilian linguists throughout the European and African Command the opportunity to receive language training closer to their home duty stations in Europe. CALTC will begin teaching Arabic, French, Persian-Farsi and Russian, however, it will offer individualized training based on the needs of the Soldiers and units. About 250 students are expected to attend the Vilseck center annually, and the number is expected to increase.
