The USS Olympia and USS Louisville, both Los Angeles class submarines, are scheduled to be dismantled in June 2020, Navy officials announced late last month. Starting then, both vessels will no longer be counted as a part of the Navy’s battle force and decommissioning will be scheduled later. The commanding officer of each vessel will also submit a final naval message announcing the ship’s retirement date and detailing the ship’s history and significant events over the course of its time in service.
