The Air Force has announced the winner of its annual Spark Tank innovation contest. Master Sgt. Jonathan Maas won with his idea for a joint chemical agent detector renewable energy power supply, according to a release. The technology allows for uninterrupted chemical agent detection with minimal user maintenance. Maas was one of six Spark Tank finalists whose ideas were reviewed by a panel including Air Force leadership; entrepreneur Mark Cuban; and George Steinbrenner IV, owner of Harding Steinbrenner Racing. The Spark Tank competition, which began in September 2017, serves to celebrate the innovations of airmen and develop creative ideas. While Maas was the only winner selected, other finalists will receive service support for their ideas. Read more at AF.mil.
