A soldier with the Kentucky National Guard has set a new record on the Army Combat Fitness Test, scoring 597 out of a possible 600 points. Spc. Ryan Sowder from the 2112th Transportation Company out of Burlington, Kentucky set the score June 18, the highest yet recorded out of any Army element, according to a recent service release. The rigorous, six-event test gives participants an hour to complete the deadlift, the standing power throw, the hand-release push-up, the sprint-drag-carry, the leg tuck, and a 2-mile run. The ACFT is currently in an extended field testing phase and will be the service fitness test for all soldiers starting October 2020. Read more at Army.mil.
