The C.W. Bill Young Department of Defense Marrow Donor Program works exclusively with military personnel and their dependents, DoD civilian employees, Reservists, and Coast Guard and National Guard members to facilitate marrow and stem cell donations. The registration process is easy. There is one page to fill out for contact information and another for health history. Then the actual testing is done with taking a sample from a person with four cheek swabs. That coded information (no names or social security numbers are used for identification purposes) will then be added on the National Marrow Donor Program national registry where it will remain until their 61st birthday. For more information, visit the program's website at www.salutetolife.org.
