The Battleship North Carolina is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its commissioning on Saturday, April 9, 2016, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wilmington, NC. Active duty Marines and Sailors from the 2d Marine Division will share their maritime services history and heritage. The birthday cake will be cut at 1 p.m. The battleship is self-supporting, not tax supported and is located at the junction of Highways 17/74/76/421 on the Cape Fear River.
