The Air Force marked the 30th anniversary of the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber July 17. The futuristic bomber’s first test flight was conducted in 1989, from Palmdale to Edwards Air Force Base, California, according to a service news release. B-2 crews have been part of five major military operations, deploying to complete missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. The bomber holds the record for the longest combat mission, at 44.3 hours, and was also the first aircraft over Afghanistan following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Read more at AF.mil.
