The U.S. Navy is observing Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May. The observance honors the great contributions Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made throughout American history. More than 24,500 Asian-Pacific Islanders currently serve in the Navy and Navy Reserve. For more information about the history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and their numerous contributions to the Navy, visit the Naval History and Heritage Command website. The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) provides printable posters, presentations, guidance for organizing observance, and educational facts on their DEOMI website under the section "Special Observances."
