The new Improved Hot Weather Army Combat Uniform (ACU) has fewer pockets, layers of fabric and Velcro, and a new fabric that is actually lighter than the current ACU. The Army wants to bring that uniform first to Soldiers in jungle environments, such as the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, where it is both hot and wet. The Army also hopes to bring the uniform to all Soldiers within a year. One issue that has to be worked out with the light-weight uniform's new fabric is that it might be more susceptible to wrinkling after washing. The Army is also looking at a new jungle boot, which will also undergo an evaluation with Soldiers and have the same capabilities as the jungle boot Soldiers are currently testing.
