A new pilot small-arms training program at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, aims to make the U.S. Army Reserve more lethal. The Army Reserve Small-Arms Trainer Course is designed to improve individual soldier weapons proficiency in the Reserve by providing additional training and subject-matter expert support. According to a service news release, the new course is 12 days long and focuses on the six individual and crew-served weapons most commonly found within the Army Reserve: M2, MK19, M240B, M249, M4/M16 and M9. Instruction emphasizes marksmanship on each system, with its associated optic, and helps students better understand maintenance as well. Instructors hope the course will become a permanent fixture at Fort McCoy. Read more at Army.mil.
