The standard issue combat boot most Soldiers wear today has proven to not work as well in hot and wet environments. So, the U.S. Army has developed a new jungle boot that some Soldiers will see this year. The new Army Jungle Combat Boot (JCB) sports a variety of features drawn from both the legacy M1966 Vietnam-era jungle boot and modern technology. The new boot uses a sole that will shed mud and provide great traction, It has an added midsole that makes it more comfortable and shock absorbing. The foam layer between the rubber sole and the upper portion of the boot keeps out microbes in hot, wet environments. Currently, the new jungle boot will be used by Soldiers with the 25th ID in Hawaii because there are jungles there the Soldiers must contend with.
