The American Legion Spirit of Service Award honors an enlisted member (E-5 and below) from each branch of the armed forces. The award, which began in 2000, will be presented at the Legion's national convention in Indianapolis, running Aug. 23-29, 2019. Eligibility includes a level of volunteer community service that a service member performs off-duty in the local community. Nominees must have been ranked E-5 or below during the period of service from Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2018. Nominees may be active-duty or reserve and must be outstanding military professionals.
