An Air Force tech sergeant has developed a new concept for F-22 raptor intake covers that helps with maintenance protocol. According to a recent release, Tech. Sgt. Daniel Caban, a 1st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, created portable magnetic aircraft covers that can be folded and packed away. The compact design eliminates the need for bulkier Dash 21 gear, which required separate shipping. The magnetic covers also cost about half of what the Dash 21 cover sets cost. They could be used in the future on other fighters and even commercial aircraft. Read more at AF.mil.
