Inland Manufacturing has come out with a .30 caliber M1 Scout Carbine fitted with a military-style conical flash hider. The barrel thread is 1/2-half-inch x 28 so the flash hider may be removed to fit a – legally registered – aftermarket sound suppressor or silencer, the company said in its recent announcement.
The carbine comes in just under 36 inches. Its 18-inch barrel includes the flash hider. Without bases, rings and scope it weighs 5 ½ pounds.
Inland Manufacturing LLC was founded just three years ago, but it reached into the past to introduce reproductions of the M1 Carbine and M1A1 Paratrooper models built by the original Inland Division of General Motors during World War II.
Its new M1 Scout Carbine has a black anodized aluminum upper handguard with Picatinny rail for mounting long eye-relief scopes such as a pistol scope or long eye relief scope, and provides the quick target acquisition generic to scout-type firearms. It also has military-type iron sights.
The Picatinny rail also makes it possible to mount red dots, lasers, lights and other accessories, the company says. The rail/handguard is attached to the barrel, providing additional barrel stiffening that means some additional accuracy.
The carbine will accommodate 10-, 20- and 30-round military magazines. It is sold with one 15-round magazine in all states but California, where it is sold with a single 10-round magazine.
The stock is American Walnut sprayed, the company says, with a special, proprietary industrial textured polymer that gives it a tough, good-looking covert black finish.
The company’s suggested retail price for the carbine is $1,239.
