USS Theodore Roosevelt Recovers Man Overboard

MANAMA, Bahrain -- The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) successfully recovered a Sailor who fell overboard while the ship was conducting operations in the Arabian Gulf, June 18. The Sailor is in stable condition.

At approximately 9:22 p.m., the Sailor was observed going overboard by another crew member. USS Theodore Roosevelt immediately conducted an all hands roll call and executed standard procedures to perform rescue operations.

Search and rescue operations continued until the Sailor was found at about 9:45 p.m.

The Sailor was rescued via helicopter and returned onboard Theodore Roosevelt at about 9:58 p.m. The recovery was conducted by the Dragonslayers of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS) 11. A rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) from the guided missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74) assisted in the rescue.
