Military members may be authorized a special pay based on their performance of hazardous duties or being a member of an aircrew. This is known as Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay or HDIP.

Hazardous Duty Pay for Non-Aircrew Members
Service members, who perform hazardous duties are eligible for Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay (HDIP). These hazardous duties include:
- Flying duty as non-crewmembers,
- Parachute jumping,
- Demolition of explosives,
- Handling of toxic fuels,
- Participation in flight deck duty or experimental stress duty.
The normal monthly HDIP is $150, however members who participate in HALO (High-Altitude; Low-Opening) parachute jumps are eligible for $225 monthly.
Normally for HDIP to be authorized there are requirements for the number of hours assigned to an active flight deck or a required number of parachute jumps to be completed, etc.
You may be authorized a maximum of two types of HDIP at the same time.
Hazardous Duty Pay for Aircrew Members
Service members that perform flight duties as aircrew members and meet their services operational requirements are eligible for a special HDIP - more commonly known as flight pay. The following table reflects the current level of HDIP for each paygrade.
